About Slender Halloween Edition

It is Halloween night in Hallow's Hollow, a clearing of dead oaks, crooked graves and jack-o'-lanterns, and one of the people you came in with is Slenderman, witch's hat and all. Eight witch's potions are hidden among the chapel, the graveyard, the scarecrow field and the other landmarks. The survivors have ten minutes to gather all eight. Slenderman has ten minutes to stop them.

You play it together, over voice chat, in the dark. Survivors choose between staying close for safety and splitting up to cover more ground, sweeping the hollow by flashlight while the battery drains and static creeps in at the edge of the screen. Whoever drew the monster plays by other rules. They blink across the map, put out the lanterns the others steer by, and get faster with every potion found.

This is the Halloween cut of Slender: same rules, a new map built for the season. Rounds are short, run in the browser with nothing to install, and hide the potions somewhere new every time, so one match rolls into the next. Bring two to eight people for a Halloween social, or face a CPU Slenderman on your own first.

How to play Slender Halloween Edition

Enter the hollow

Type a name and everyone on the link drops into the same private round, two to eight of you. On your own, start a solo match against a CPU Slenderman instead.
Learn who you are

When the countdown ends, one player becomes Slenderman and everyone else is a survivor. You find out at the same moment as everyone else.
Search by flashlight

Move with WASD, look with the mouse and sprint on Shift while your stamina lasts. F turns the flashlight on and off, and holding Q winds the battery back up. Check the landmarks for the eight potions and take one with E.
Or be the one hunting

As Slenderman you teleport to close the gap and put out lanterns to leave a corner in darkness. Get near a survivor, or let them look at you for too long, and the static on their screen climbs until they are taken.
Beat the ten minutes

Survivors win the moment all eight potions are collected. If the clock runs out or everyone is caught, Slenderman wins. Anyone taken watches the rest of the round, and the next round hides the potions somewhere new.
